A Rich History

With a legacy spanning over 40 years, Castel Grisch Estate Winery has been cultivating vines and crafting exceptional wines since its founding in 1983. Situated on the west side of Seneca Lake, the estate boasts a breathtaking, one-of-a-kind panoramic view of the lake and surrounding hills. Its original founder, inspired by the land’s resemblance to a touch of the Alps, chose it for his home in the United States and established a winery that honors both tradition and natural beauty.

Drawing on our goal to blend traditional winemaking with Asian cultural touches, Castel Grisch Estate Winery is currently focusing on Chinese-inspired experiences that celebrate both food and light. Guests can enjoy seasonal Chinese food-and-wine pairings—think dim sum bites perfectly matched with our crisp Riesling—and wander through a festive lantern show set among the vines as dusk falls over Seneca Lake.

This fall, we’re especially excited to host the Watkins Glen Hot Air Balloon and Music Festival at Castel Grisch Winery from September 12–14, 2025. With colorful balloons lifting off against the backdrop of our west-side panorama and live music filling the air, this event will become an annual highlight for Watkins Glen and beyond. While we continue developing deeper Asian-themed offerings, these early steps in cuisine, illumination, and skybound celebration invite every visitor to experience the unique fusion of East-meets-West hospitality on the shores of Seneca Lake.
